Project K: Pharmacotherapeutic and Pharmacoeconomic Aspects of Rotavirus-vaccination in the NL

Department of Pharmacy, Pharmacoepidemiology & Pharmacoeconomics
 Coordinator: Prof MJ Postma PhD

Reimbursement of Rotavirus-vaccines has been a topic of much public discussions during the last 2 years in the Netherlands. An important aspect concerns the cost-effectiveness of these vaccines, with some doubts on whether cost-effectiveness is favorable enough. These vaccines have now been assessed for both the National Immunization Program and the National Reference Pricing system (denied for reimbursement). You will investigate (i) the use of these vaccines in the last years using our in-house database on drugs (ii) the outcomes and assumptions underlying the available cost-effectiveness analyses for the Netherlands. Additionally, some international comparison will be performed to compare the Dutch attitude towards the vaccine with other countries, inclusive the role of pharmacoeconomics in the assessments (for example, Belgium, the UK and Germany).
