Research & Development

The Research and Development (R&D) committee aims to constantly improve ISCOMS throughout the years. R&D evaluates and innovates. The committee looks back to earlier conferences, determines what should be improved and tries to do just that in the upcoming ISCOMS conferences.
Who or what do we evaluate? For example, we look at other committees within the ISCOMS organising committee and try to figure out what has to be changed. Continuous improvement of ISCOMS in general is one of our main goals.
Next to evaluation is innovation. A good example of innovation set up by the Research and Development committee is the ISCOMS application for smart phones which has been introduced last year. With this, every visitor has all the studyabstracts and their own personal program at their fingertips.
Maintaining and evaluating partnerships is one of the other goals of R&D. Partnerships are extremely meaningful for continuous improvement of medical student conferences overall. As partners, we aim to become even better and more inspiring as a student conference than we ever were. Each year we evaluate our partnerships and search for possible new partners to work with.
Next to the partnerships, ISCOMS is involved in the Network of European Medical Student Conferences (NEMSC), a cooperation between ESC-Berlin, the EMSA and ISCOMS. With NEMSC we aim to stimulate interfaculty exchange, enhance our student conferences and promote science in Europe.
We would love to welcome you at ISCOMS 2012!
The Research and Development committee,
Tom Kieffer and Matthijs Nijenhuis
