Content
1. Title:
Use a catchy title, yet representative of the contents of your poster. Draw the attention of your audience with your title.
2. Introduction and research question:
The introduction starts with what is known, followed by what is unknown. State your research question and experimental approach.
3. Materials and Methods:
Explain your experimental design for answering your research question. Clarify what experiments/techniques you used in order to answer your research question. State the function of every technique/measurement and if necessary, explain why you have chosen certain techniques. Remember to keep confined to essential details.
4. Results:
Only report results that are relevant for your research question. Give percentages rather than exact data when possible. Also, use graphs for your most important findings.
5. Conclusion:
Give the answer to your research question.
6. Discussion:
One sentence. (Optional)
7. Future prospective:
State the future prospective if your research shortly.
8. References/Funding
Lay-out
- Font: Use a simple font (for instance Arial, Verdana or Calibri). Furthermore, make sure the letters are not too small!
- Colors and contrast: Use a light and simple background colour. For lettering, choose a contrasting color differing from your background. Let the data stand out. (colours, contrast, resolutions)
- Highlight the essential topics of the poster.
- Tip: Always make a test print of your poster!
Presenting your poster
At our congress, you will be given the opportunity to present your poster in a poster session. This means that instead of standing by your poster for questions, you will actually present your poster. You will get time to run through your poster and present your introduction, materials and methods, results, conclusion and discussion. Afterwards there will be time for discussion and questions from your audience.
