The 2011 Post Congress Tour

After two days with interesting lectures, workshops and presentations, it’s time for a day of relaxation and of exploring the Netherlands! The place of our exciting Post Congress Tour for this year will be De Hoge Veluwe National Park! It is a Dutch national park in the province of Gelderland. It is approximately 55 square kilometers in area, consisting of heathlands, sand dunes, and woodlands. The park forms one of the largest continuous nature reserves in the Netherlands with a wide variety of plants and animals.

We will visit The Kröller-Müller Museum, which you find at the park. The Kröller-Müller Museum is renowned for its large collection of paintings by Vincent van Gogh; you will find a magnificent display of his works. The museum is also home to impressive works by George Seurat, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger, Piet Mondrian and many other great painters.  There is also the possibility to visit a famous Sculpture Garden at the Kröller-Müller Museum. The magnificent collection of sculptures is exhibited in an innovative way, surrounded by nature.

Besides the interesting museum, the Park is extremely suitable for a beautiful cycling tour. We are going to cycle on the famous white bikes through the Park, along magnificent landscapes and a Country-residence and museum Sint Hubertus !

Likewise you have the opportunity to wear traditional Dutch clothes and take a picture of it, surrounded by a Dutch landscape! Besides that we provide the possibility to paint a typical Dutch Wooden shoe in your own design. These will be perfect memories of your trip to the Netherlands!
 
This amazing day we will end with a dinner in a restaurant at the National Park. On the menu there is, of course, some typical Dutch food!
After this diner we will go back to Groningen, where we will arrive at around 22.30 o’clock.
